Southern Beaches is an area lined by beaches south east of Hobart. It is made up of towns such as Dodges Ferry, Carlton, Lewisham, Dunalley and Forcett. At this stage we mostly meet in homes but will launch a public Sunday service in the community in 2018. Below are some examples of who you might meet at SBA and what to expect on Sundays and in our weekly Missional Community gatherings.
We meet: Weekly at Dodges Ferry Primary School (GP Room) @ 3pm Dunalley Community Hall on the 4th Sunday @ 3pm for Lords supper. All people are welcome and we enjoy afternoon tea before the service and a shared meal (finger food) after. See map at bottom of page
Southern Beaches Anglican is a church plant out of the Parish of SRT, based in Sorell. A growing community, the southern beaches area includes towns such as Dodges Ferry, Carlton, Forcett, Lewisham and Dunalley. This area was highlighted as the fastest growing area in Tasmania in the 2017 census. At SBA we believe that Church is much more than Sunday. As we live as Gods family, go out as missionaries (inviting people into the family) and live out our identity as servants of Jesus we believe lives should be lived out in faith, love and joy, everyday. We believe building Gods community, growing in our relationships with Jesus and growing in our relationship with each other is the fundamental way to live out our identity. MISSIONAL COMMUNITY LIFE
We make much of Jesus at SBA. We believe that the Gospel has the power to totally transform lives, communities and the world around us. As we step out in faith the life transforming power of the Gospel is what we put our hope and trust in.
Kids and young families are a big part of what we do at SBA. We want to support families in the discipling of their children. Many of us at SBA have young children and see the value of a supporting family within the church. Our old people are grandparents to all children, our families look after each other and our young adults take on the role of healthy mentors. We want our children to be involved in the church so that they feel like they belong, growing into adults with a strong faith, serving Christ. "But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus". 2 Timothy 3:14-15
